Golf AutographsOlin Dutra-(D. 1983) was a professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 1920s and 1930s. In 1924, he resigned from a job at a hardware store and joined the PGA Tour, where he would win 19 tournaments. His best years as a golf professional were in the early 1930s; he won the 1932 PGA Championship, the 1934 U.S. Open at Merion and played in the 1933 and 1935 Ryder Cup matches. In the 1932 PGA Championship, Dutra played 196 holes and finished an astounding 19-under-par, including finishing as low qualifier and winning his matches 9 & 8, 5 & 3, 5 & 4, 3 & 2, and 4 & 3. The 1934 U.S. Open is the tournament for which Dutra is best remembered. While traveling to Philadelphia, where the tournament was to take place, Dutra became ill and lost 15 pounds. After the first 2 rounds, he was 8 strokes behind the leaders, after the third round he was in 18th place. On the eve of the final round, Dutra had an attack of dysentry, forcing him to snack on sugar cubes throughout the final round. He was still able to shoot a 72 holding off Gene Sarazen to win by a single stroke. We offer a signed and personalized 5.5" x 3.5" card $195Cary Middlecoff-(D) is often remembered for his glacial pace of play, his occasionally volcanic temper and his nickname Doc, which he earned for being a qualified dentist. Middlecoff, who won his third tournament as a pro in 1947, won at least one more in every year until his retirement in 1961. When he hung up his spikes, his 37 career victories were seventh on the PGA Tour's all-time list, and he had also bagged a U.S. Open and two Masters titles. Middlecoff was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1986. We offer a gorgeous signed vintage photo of Cary swinging his golf club at a tournament $349 AH. (Alf) Padgham-(D. 1966) was one of the leading British professional golfers of the 1930s and 1940s. Padgham was born in Caterham, Surrey. After finishing third at The Open Championship in 1934, and coming second in 1935, he won the 1936 Open at Hoylake. Padgham played for Great Britain in the Ryder Cup in 1933, 1935 and 1937, but he lost all six of his matches. He had an ungainly style, but was at times a brilliant putter. We offer a signed custom made card that he dated 1956 $149 Denny Shute-(D. 1974) captured the PGA Championship title in 1936 and 1937, becoming the first back-to-back winner before Tiger Woods in 2000. Nice inscription and killer signature on an album page from the Babs Roberts collection $249 Cyril Tolley-(D. 1978) was one of the stars of British Golf, a two-time winner of the British Amateur Championship in 1920 and 1928.
