Twelve five-piece place settings of Lenox China issued to journeyman pitcher Mike Fornieles (in 1961 when he was a member of the Boston Red Sox) in honor of his selection to the 1961 American League All-Star Team. Each participating member of the team received these twelve five-piece place settings, which features the American League logo on the front of each dinner plate. The reverse of each dinner plate is lettered "American League/All-Star Team/1961" directly above the Lenox logo. Both the logo and lettering are in gold, matching the trim of the plate. Only the dinner plate is specially marked as such on the front and reverse. All of the other pieces in this setting are marked "Mansfield/By Lenox/C-513" on the reverse. This set is comprised of the following pieces: twelve cups and saucers, twelve bread plates (6.375 inches), twelve salad plates (8.375 inches), and twelve dinner plates (10.5 inches).

It should be noted that this Lenox pattern has been discontinued by the company and the replacement value alone for all of the pieces is approximately $1,200, which is without reference to its value as a special presentation piece. All of the pieces, which are off white and feature a gold trim, remain in Near Mint condition displaying little-to-no wear.

Total: 60 pieces (12 cups, 12 saucers, 12 bread plates, 12 salad plates, and 12 dinner plates). This 12-piece place setting originates directly from Fornieles' estate and we cannot recall having ever seen another set.
