George Digby spent sixty years in the Boston Red Sox organization mainly as their super scout. His importance to the team was so monumental that he was the first scout inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2008. His most notable signing was Wade Boggs who received a $7,500 bonus from the Sox. In addition to Boggs, Digby discovered Mike Greenwell, Jody Reed, Marc Sullivan, and Tom Bolton. He was East Coast Scout of the Year in 1985 and is also a member of the Florida Scouts Hall of Fame. A plaque near the press box at Tropicana Field honors Digby and states that he signed 53 players in a career that began in 1944.

Offered is one of his crowning achievements; Digby’s personally owned 1967 American League Championship ring which would be the Red Sox first appearance in the World Series since 1946. The ’67 Sox finished with a winning record for the first time in nine years mainly due to Carl Yastrzemski's MVP and Triple Crown season, the outstanding play of All-Stars Tony Conigliaro & Rico Petrocelli, and of course Jim Lonborg’s career year which earned him the Cy Young award. The season had one of the most memorable finishes in baseball history. The AL pennant race went to the very last game with Boston (92–70) beating out the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins by one game.

Unfortunately, their opponents, the fearsome St. Louis Cardinals, were just too mighty for the Red Sox to break the curse of the Bambino. The would end up losing 4 games to 3.

This gorgeous specimen is an approximate size 10.5 and made out of 10 K Gold “B” formed with 2 red stones sit atop the face of the ring that are surrounded by "BOSTON RED SOX AL CHAMPIONS" in finely crafted raised lettering. One side panel has "1967" with the Red Sox logo atop a ball over crossed bats. The other has "DIGBY" with a Red Sox cap over crossed bats and a pretty ball-in-glove design below. Inside stamped "BALFOUR 10K."

This ring is one of the finest original 1967 Red Sox rings that we’ve ever seen. EX-MT overall condition.
