These letters are responses to the question: What is your greatest thrill/most memorable moment?All are handwritten and signed unless noted otherwise; most are accompanied by its original mailing envelope; some are signed in different ink from the letter body; most are signed in ink; most are written on a standard request letter form. Many are deceased. These are written to former Yankees batboy Bill Hongach. Some of the content highlights are summarized below (shown in parenthesis). This lot includes:

  • Gerald “Red” Fahr (funny story about a 3-2 loss; Red Ruffing; Lou Boudreau, Mike Garcia, etc.);
  • Frank Fanovich SIGNED but ghost-written by wife (retiring Musial in game 0/4);
  • Carmen Fanzone (HR off Steve Blass);
  • Ed Farmer (pitching for the White Sox/making all-star team);
  • John Farrell (detailed story on ending Molitor’s 39-game hit streak);

  • Derrell Griffith SIGNED “Derrell” (knocking in all 3 runs in 3-1 win behind Koufax);
  • Hal Griggs (2-hit shutout vs. Yankees at Yankee Stadium);
  • Jason Grimsley (two outstanding, heartwarming stories: ML callup; and world series debut in game three and post-game meeting with three-year-old son)
