In this photo, the 18 yr old Rush (d 2011) and new high school graduate has just been signed by the Cubs. He had been planning on attending Purdue University. His father, Harry Rush, had pitched for the St Louis Browns. Rush went on to play from 1948 to 1960 for the Milwaukee Braves, Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago White Sox.

On June 11, 1950, Rush and pitcher Warren Spahn of the Braves each stole a base against each other; no opposing pitchers again stole a base in the same game until May 3, 2004, when Jason Marquis and Greg Maddux repeated the feat. Rush was an All-Star selection in 1950 and 1952.

We offer an original 6” x 8” photo with an attached caption on the back. Also, on the reverse is an ACME Newspictures stamp and a reference stamp dated Oct 3_1961. Great shot of Rush wearing a War years Chicago Cubs vest. For the photo match enthusiast, this would be a great picture to add to your collection!
