Gene Ford (D.1970) Signed AUTO 1936 Chicago Cubs Baseball Contract w/ Phillip Wrigley

Gene Ford (D. 1970 at age 58) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Boston Bees and Chicago White Sox in parts of two seasons spanning 1936–1938. Ford was listed at 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), 195 pounds (88 kg). He batted and threw right-handed.

Born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Ford attended University of Iowa. Following his graduation, he pitched in the Minor Leagues with the Peoria Tractors in 1935 and for the Columbia Senators in 1936 before making his debut with the Bees. He played for Peoria in 1935 (Cubs farm team).

Offered is an official Uniform Player’s Contract for the National League – Chicago Cubs pitcher, Gene Ford who was to be paid $300 a month (he was invited to spring training in Catalina Island, CA).  The contract has been hand signed by both Ford and Phillip K Wrigley.  NL president Ford Frick’s signature has been signed by proxy (i.e. secretarial).
