In Mark’s PGA career that began as as a professional in 1983, he has won 7 PGA tournaments. We are thrilled to present his Winner’s Gold medal for winning the 1996 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic that was played January 17-21, 1996. For obvious reasons, Winner's Gold Medals make it to the collector market very infrequently.
This medal measures 1.5 inches in diameter. We can not stress how rare these medals are. Estatblished in 1960, the tournament is now known as the Career Builder Challenge. The Classic's biggest draw, both then and now, has been the celebrity Pro-Am competition which has attracted some of the era's biggest celebrities. According to the official website, those celebrities have included: Bing Crosby, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Desi Arnaz, Ray Bolger, Hoagy Carmichael, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Frank Sinatra, Gerald Ford, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and of course, Bob Hope.
Past winners have included: Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Billy Casper, Doug Sanders, Johnny Miller, Craig Stadler, Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson, and Jason Dufner. Mark Brooks would definitely be considered in good company as past winners of this event.
