Sports AutographsThe following are autographs of tennis players, Olympians, track stars, and other miscellaneous sports not covered in our other sections.Gil Dodds-(D. 1977 at the age of 59) called "The Flying Parson", was an American distance runner and athlete. In the 1940s, he held the American and World records for the mile run. He was awarded the James E. Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in the United States in 1943. On March 11, 1944, Dodds broke the world record for the mile run (indoors) at the annual Knights of Columbus track meet in Madison Square Garden, New York City.[9] His time of 4:07.2 broke the old record by 0.1 second, which was jointly held by Glenn Cunningham, Charles Fenske and Leslie MacMitchell. Very rare $295 Dale Earnhardt -legendary tragic death NASCAR racer. Signed 3x5 card $150 Tod Sloan-(D. 1933) was an American thoroughbred horse racing jockey. He was elected to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1955. He popularized the forward seat style of riding, or the "monkey crouch" as the British called it, when he began riding there in 1897. Initially laughed at, his style revolutionized the sport worldwide. We offer a pencil cut signature from an autograph album. RARE!!! $295 (K) Eddie Tolan-(D. 1967 at the age of 58) nicknamed the "Midnight Express" was an American athlete and sprinter. He set world records in the 100-yard dash and 100-meter event and Olympic records in the 100-meter and 200-meter events. He was the first African-American to receive the title of the "world's fastest human" after winning gold medals in the 100- and 200-meter events at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. In March 1935, Tolan won the 75-, 100-, and 220-yard events at the World Professional Sprint Championships in Melbourne, Australia to become the first man to win both the amateur and professional world sprint championships. In his full career as a sprinter, Tolan won 300 races and lost only 7. He is a member of the National Track and Field Hall of Fame (1982).
