Jack Rothrock (1905-1980) was a versatile utility player who played 11 MLB seasons (1925-1937) with four teams: Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, and Philadelphia Athletics.
Career Highlights: The switch-hitting Long Beach native made history in 1928 as just the second American League player to play all nine positions in one season. He received AL MVP consideration in 1927 and posted his best offensive season with the 1934 NL champion Cardinals, hitting .284 with career-highs of 11 home runs, 106 runs, and 72 RBIs while leading the league with 154 games played. Rothrock led St. Louis with six RBIs in their 1934 World Series victory.
Playing Style: Known as an aggressive baserunner and line-drive hitter who hit .300 with 23 steals for Boston in 1929.
Career Totals: .276 average, 924 hits, 28 home runs, 327 RBIs, 75 stolen bases across 1,014 games. Appeared at eight different field positions plus pitcher and catcher.
