Ray Oyler (D. 1981 at the age of 42 from a heart attack) was an American shortstop in Major League Baseball who played for the Detroit Tigers (1965-1968), Seattle Pilots (1969), and California Angels (1970). He is best remembered as the slick-fielding, no-hit shortstop for the 1968 World Series champion Tigers and as the subject of the endearing "Ray Oyler Fan Club" organized by Seattle radio personality Robert E. Lee Hardwick.
Jim Northrup (D. 2011) passed away 30 years after his teammate who he shared a rookie card with. Northrup is best remembered for his contributions to the 1968 Detroit Tigers World Series Championship team. Northrup led the 1968 Tigers in hits and RBIs, hit five grand slams, broke up three no-hitters, and had the game-winning triple off Bob Gibson in Game 7 of the 1968 World Series.
Offered is a nicely preserved #259 rookie card of this Detroit Duo from the 1965 set that has been encapsulated and graded (autographs) AUTHENTIC by PSA/DNA.
This is the first we’ve seen of this card signed by both!
