When the eligibility rules changed in 1944, Horvath returned to Ohio State as a tailback in the single wing and quarterback in the T formation. The Buckeyes went 9-0, won the Big Ten, and finished ranked No. 2 nationally. Horvath rushed for 905 yards and passed for 345, ranking second in the nation in rushing and third in total offense. He was a unanimous All-American, Big Ten Most Valuable Player, and Heisman Trophy winner.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eHorvath graduated from dental school in 1945, was commissioned as a Navy ensign, and was discharged in July 1947. He played three seasons of professional football with the Rams and Browns (1947-49), then practiced dentistry in Los Angeles for the remainder of his career.
