Glenn Wright was a standout shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Robins/Dodgers, and Chicago White Sox from 1924 to 1935. In his rookie season he set the single-season record for assists by a shortstop with 601, a mark that stood 56 years until Ozzie Smith broke it in 1980. In 1925 Wright pulled off an unassisted triple play against the Cardinals and was a key member of Pittsburgh's World Series championship team that year. The Pirates returned to the World Series in 1927 but were swept by the Yankees. Despite a serious shoulder injury in 1929, Wright posted career highs the following season with a .321 average, 22 home runs, and 126 RBI, setting an NL single-season home run record for shortstops that stood until 1953. He finished his career with a .294 average and 723 RBI.

Offered is a phenomenal, crystal-clear original 8" x 10" Type I photograph of Wright that features the International Newsreel stampings on the back.  This photo was taken circa 1924-28.  Wright is an often-overlooked star of his era.

Exceptionally rare!
