Paul "Big Poison" Waner (1903–1965) starred for the San Francisco Seals (1923-25) of the Pacific Coast League before joining the majors, batting .378 over three seasons including .401 during their 1925 championship year. Purchased by Pittsburgh for $100,000, he won the 1927 NL MVP with a league-leading .380 average, 237 hits, and 131 RBIs. A three-time NL batting champion, he collected 3,152 career hits and a .333 lifetime average, earning Hall of Fame induction in 1952.
Offered is a pre-rookie original 8” x 10” TYPE I photo of Paul Waner in San Francisco Seals uniform.
This came out of a Bay area collection and is only the second TYPE I photo that we’ve ever seen of Waner in Seals uniform (and that was a shoulder up shot). This is a full uniform masterpiece!
