Dutch Schultz (1901–1935), born Arthur Flegenheimer, was a key figure in the Jewish mob alongside Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegel. Rising from Bronx street thug to Prohibition powerhouse, he built a massive bootlegging empire and muscled into the Harlem numbers racket. He ran with the Murder Inc. underworld that inspired the Boardwalk Empire era of organized crime. His volatile nature alienated mob leadership, and when he demanded Thomas Dewey's assassination, the Commission had him killed in a Newark chophouse in 1935.

SLUG.. (DUTCH SCHULTZ)
"SILK BED" GANG KING IN COURT
NEW YORK -- Arthur "Dutch" Schultz in General Sessions where he pleaded not guilty to three indictments and pleaded in such a loud voice that a court attendant had to quiet him. The $75,000 bail was continued. Dutch is the beer running king of the Bronx who, despite his tough appearance, was found to be sleeping in a silk-spreaded bed with the "cutest" little dollie on it. He has $856,000 in the bank too. The Government is finding out the why's and wherefores of this "nest egg" before suing for non-payment of income tax.
