Dutch Schultz (1901–1935), born Arthur Flegenheimer, was a key figure in the Jewish mob alongside Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegel. Rising from Bronx street thug to Prohibition powerhouse, he built a massive bootlegging empire and muscled into the Harlem numbers racket. He ran with the Murder Inc. underworld that inspired the Boardwalk Empire era of organized crime. His volatile nature alienated mob leadership, and when he demanded Thomas Dewey's assassination, the Commission had him killed in a Newark chophouse in 1935.
