The Seattle Rainiers were one of the Pacific Coast League's most storied franchises. Originally founded as the Seattle Indians, they played in the PCL from 1903–1906 and 1919–1968, becoming the Rainiers after acquisition by interests associated with Rainier Brewing. The club won multiple PCL pennants and was a cornerstone of West Coast baseball during the era when the PCL rivaled the major leagues in popularity. They played at Sick's Stadium until the franchise was sold and moved after the 1968 season, helping pave the way for Seattle's eventual major league presence with the Pilots and later the Mariners.
Offered is an original stock Certificate #145 for 200 shares of stock in the Seattle Rainier Baseball Club Inc dated April 19, 1939 and signed by team owner and president, Emil Sick (D. 1964). Sick owned the Rainier Brewing Company after which the team was named. In 2007, he was posthumously inducted into the PCL Hall of Fame.
