In front of a crowd of 10,774 Brooklyn fans, Russ Meyer pitched a 3 hitter against the visiting, Cincinnati Reds to go 9-4 over Reds pitcher, Art Fowler. Carl Furillo and Jackie Robinson drove in 5 runs between them.Jackie was reinstated into the cleanup spot and did not disappoint the hometown fans.
He smacked a single, double, and three run homer to lead 'Dem Bums to victory!Meyer, in winning his 9thgame, gave up doubles to Ted Kluszewski and Wally Post. He let Roy McMillan to hit a single off of him. Pee Wee Reese was also a big contributor, going 1 for 3 with a triple. He also walked to get on base twice.
Great action packed game (at least for the Dodgers).
