Pee Wee Reese (D. 1999) shortstop for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers from 1940 to 1958. A ten-time All Star, Reese contributed to seven National League championships for the Dodgers and, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984. Reese is also famous for his support of his teammate Jackie Robinson, the first modern African American player in the major leagues, especially in Robinson's difficult first years. We offer his personal contract signed by Reese and E.J. (Buzzie) Bavasi - (D) who was the Brooklyn Dodgers GM from 1955 (Brooklyn's only World Championship year paying Reese $15,000. Big money for that time period. If one were to own a Brooklyn Dodgers contract, yet a HOF'ers; 1955 would be the year to own. Reese was still going strong during the 1955 season, scoring 99 runs. In that year, the Dodgers won their first World Series. Reese had two RBI in Game 2. In Game 7, he singled and scored an insurance run. While on the field, he doubled Gil McDougald off first after a sensational catch and relay throw in left field by Sandy Amoros to help preserve the victor.Offered is an original crystal clear TYPE I photo that measures 6.5" x 9" in size from the Houston Post Library (stamped on back along with date June 13, 1956).Reese depicted in his Brooklyn Dodgers uniform, has his bat between his legs and is holding something with his well-worn baseball glove that looks like it's falling apart.Sweat is pouring from his brow.
