The San Francisco Seals capped their historic run in 1957, finishing 101–67 to win the Pacific Coast League pennant in what proved to be the club’s final season in San Francisco. Managed by Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Gordon, the team led the league with 793 runs scored while allowing 640 runs, combining strong offense with deep pitching.
The season carried deep historical significance. After more than five decades of Seals baseball (1903–1957), the arrival of the San Francisco Giants in 1958 meant the end of the PCL club in the city. On September 15, 1957, the Seals played their final home games at Seals Stadium in front of 15,484 fans in what writers described as a “joyous wake” celebrating the team’s long history.
The Seals finished on top of the league and captured the 1957 PCL championship, a fitting finale before the franchise relocated to Phoenix the following year.
Offered is a creamy white SAN FRANCISCO SEALS LOGO baseball signed by the 1957 San Franisco Seals. Unfortunately, the signatures have totally faded out (meaning like a 1 out of 10 in strength). You can still see the signatures of players such as Frank Kellert, Ken Aspromonte, Bill Renna, etc.
However, we are selling this ball for the unique factor that it is a Seals Logo baseball which we presume was sold as a souvenir ball at the Stadium.
That in itself is an extreme rarity!!!
