The 1960 New York Titans, the inaugural season of the franchise that later became the Jets (in 1963), finished a respectable 7-7 under Hall of Fame coach Sammy Baugh. Highlights included opening with a 27-3 win over Buffalo and fielding the AFL's highest-scoring offense (382 points). Autographs include: Eddie Bell (D.09), Joe Ryan (D. 2003) in his only year in professional football, Art Powell (D. 2015) 4 X AFL All-Star, Bill Mathis (D. 2020) Super Bowl III Champs, 2 X AFL All-Star, Dewey Bohling D.2025), Mike Hudock (D. 2003), Buddy "Gene" Cockrell (D. 2020), Bill Robinson (D. 2016) played on the 1952 Green Bay Packers and then after an 8 year absence, played for the 1960 Titans (for one game), Ger Schwedes (teammate of of Ernie Davis at Syracuse), Joe Katchik (D. 2014) drafted by the Rams in 1954 and made the practice squad in 1955 and then had a 5 year gap before signing for one season with New York, Leon Burton (D. 2022), Bob Reifsnyder (College Football HOF), Roger Ellis (D. 2008), Ted Wegert (D. 1986 at age 53) 1955-60) running back for the Eagles, Steelers Bill, Broncos, and the NY Titans, Blanche Martin (played for the 1960 Chargers and Titans), Bob Marques (D. 2012) in his only season with the Titans, Tom Saidock (D. 2014) , Al Dorow (D. 2009), Bill Shockley (D. 1992), and Hugh “Bones” Taylor (D 1992) wide receivers coach with the team after a stellar playing career in which he was a 2 X Pro Bowl player and selected as one of the 70 Greatest Redskins.
Several of the players had cup of coffee AFL/NFL careers. They played briefly and then faded into oblivion. Some really scarce signatures on this sheet.
