The 1965 Orioles finished 94–68, placing third in the American League and signaling the franchise’s emergence as a contender. Rookie outfielder Curt Blefary made an immediate impact, hitting 22 homers with 70 RBI to win AL Rookie of the Year. Brooks Robinson delivered another MVP-caliber season, while Boog Powell added strong power. The pitching staff, led by Milt Pappas, Dave McNally, and Steve Barber, kept Baltimore in the race all year. Under Hank Bauer, the ’65 season became the springboard to the Orioles’ 1966 championship run.
