1965 Mickey Mantle Day with Joe DiMaggio & Toots Shor Original TYPE I Photo

On September 18, 1965 - Before playing his 2,000th game as a Yankee today, Mickey Mantle was honored in front of 50,180 fans at Yankee Stadium. This is now widely known as the first Mickey Mantle Day.

Offered is a 10” x 8” TYPE I photo of Joe DiMaggio shaking hands with Mickey Mantle (both men are waving to the crowd with their free hand).  Behind these two Pinstriped Legends are Floyd Smith and to the far right, legendary New York restauranter and celebrity (as well as Mickey’s best friend – Mantle was a pallbearer at Toots funeral), Toots Shor.
