The 1966 Red Sox went 72–90 and finished ninth in the American League. It was a transition year that set the stage for the 1967 “Impossible Dream” season. Carl Yastrzemski and Tony Conigliaro provided the main power, while rookie George Scott impressed with solid defense and 27 home runs. Pitching was inconsistent despite flashes from Jim Lonborg and Jose Santiago. Manager Billy Herman was dismissed late in the year, and interim manager Eddie Popowski closed out a rebuilding season.
Offered is a gorgeous (like right out of the box) Official American League (Joe Cronin) baseball with 24 signatures that we’d rate a 9 out of 10. Doesn’t get any nicer than this one!
Autographs include:
Carl Yastrzemski (HOF), Billy Herman (coach)(clubhouse), Rollie Sheldon (his only season with the Red Sox), Joe Foy (D. 1989 at age 46), Jim Lonborg, Rico Petrocelli, Dan Osinski, Tony Conigliaro (D. 1990 at age 45), Billy Gardner (coach), Don McMahon (D. 1987 at age 57), Sal Maglie (coach), Bob Tillman, Eddie Kasco, Dalton Jones, Mike Ryan, Lee Stange, George Scott, Dick Stigman, Jose Santiago.
