1970 Marshall Football Plane Crash Original Press Photo - Dennis Blevins - Jack Repasy

Offered is a 9" x 7" UPI press photo with new assistant coach Mickey Jackson (who was not on the fatal flight) with varsity players, Dennis Blevins & Jack Repasy of Marshall University shown on August 28, 1970 during summer practice.As fate would have it, Coach Mickey Jackson was not with the team at East Carolina, as he was in Pennsylvania, scouting Ohio University for the Thundering Herd.Blevins and Repasy unfortunately were on the tragic flight that killed most of the Marshall football team after the East Carolina game.Stamped on the back September 1, 1970.Very few vintage photos of the 1970 Marshall football team have ever made their way into the hobby.The story of this tragic event in NCAA football history was turned into a movie in 2006, "We Are Marshall," starring Matthew McConaughey
