The 1975 California Angels endured a difficult year, finishing 68–94 and placing sixth in the AL West. Managed by Dick Williams (replaced late in the season by John McNamara), the team struggled offensively despite solid pitching. Nolan Ryan remained the club’s biggest draw, posting 186 strikeouts and continuing his reputation for overpowering stuff. Frank Tanana emerged as a rising star with a 2.62 ERA and 269 strikeouts, forming a dominant 1–2 punch with Ryan.
