Len Bias (1963–1986) was a 6-foot-8 forward and one of the greatest players in University of Maryland history. A two-time ACC Player of the Year, he earned consensus first-team All-American honors in 1986 and finished his career with 2,149 points. The Boston Celtics selected Bias second overall in the 1986 NBA Draft. Tragically, two days later, the 22-year-old died from cardiac arrhythmia caused by cocaine intoxication. He was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021
