Larry Doby was an American baseball pioneer who became the first Black player in the American League when he debuted with the Cleveland Indians on July 5, 1947, a few months after Jackie Robinson broke baseball’s color barrier. Born in Camden, South Carolina, he starred in the Negro Leagues before joining the majors, endured racial prejudice, and became a seven-time All-Star and key contributor to Cleveland’s 1948 World Series title. Doby was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998 for his trailblazing career and impact on the game
Offered is an original 5.75” x 4” color TYPE I Photo of Larry Doby giving his induction speech at the Baseball HOF in 1988. One of a kind!!!!
