On September 1, 1955 the Brooklyn Dodgers beat the visiting Milwaukee Braves 6-3 in front of 13,540 fans at Ebbets Field. This put them 13 games ahead of the Braves on their way to their first and only World Series Championship ever (in Brooklyn).
Roger Craig got the win, while Ray Crone took the loss for Milwaukee. Clem Labine was credited with the save.
2nd year player, Hank Aaron was 1 for 5, but had a double and an RBI. Eddie Mathews had a much better day, going 3 for 3 with 1 RBI.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything exceptional except for a lot of hits. Duke Snider had a double as wel as an RBI (125) and Roy Campanella had his 102 RBI of the year. Jim Gilliam had a stolen base.
The Dodgers just put together a decent mechanical hitting and fielding day!
Offered is a much sought after ticket stub for that game that has been graded by PSA 1 (originally taped into a program).
