Abe Reles (D. 1941 at age 35), known as “Kid Twist,” was a feared Brooklyn enforcer and leading figure in Murder, Inc., working closely with hitmen Bugsy Goldstein and Pittsburgh Phil. In 1930s Brownsville, Reles had a bitter rivalry with boxer Al Bummy Davis, who refused intimidation and was protected by family mob ties. Unable to harm Davis, Reles allegedly worked to obstruct his boxing career. Reles later turned government witness, sending several associates to the electric chair. In 1941, he died after falling from a hotel window while under police guard, widely believed to be a Mafia hit to silence him before testifying against Albert Anastasia.
Offered is an Original 5” x 7” press photo with faint stamping of Reles in happier times that was published in the newspaper upon his death.
Any original images of Reles are exceedingly rare!
