Al Capone (1899-1947) was America's most infamous gangster, controlling Chicago's organized crime during Prohibition. Known as "Scarface," he ran bootlegging, gambling, and prostitution operations while maintaining a public persona as a businessman. Despite numerous violent crimes including the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, he was ultimately convicted of tax evasion in 1931 and imprisoned at Alcatraz.
Offered Rare 1931 original photograph measuring approximately 6.25 x 8" in size. of noted gangster Al "Scarface" Capone as he appeared in court on vagrancy charges, shortly before being locked up for good on tax evasion convictions. All smiles as he chats with Assistant States Atty. Frank Mast outside the courtroom, despite fate getting ready to deal harshly with Capone. This was most likely printed in the late 40s upon Capone’s death. Original Brown Brothers stamping on back!
