Paul Richards (April 21, 1908 – November 4, 1986) was an influential Major League Baseball catcher, manager, and executive. He managed the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles, transforming Baltimore into a perennial contender during the 1950s. Richards was known as an innovative strategist, credited with popularizing modern pitching usage, defensive shifts, and the bullpen system. He later served as general manager of the Houston Colt .45s/Astros, helping build the franchise’s foundation and shaping modern baseball thinking. Notably, he was a member of the 1945 World Championship, Detroit Tigers team.
