Dick “Dr. Strangeglove” Stuart (1932–2002) was a power-hitting first baseman (2 X All-Star) who played in Major League Baseball from 1958 to 1965. Best known for his prodigious home-run power, Stuart hit 228 career homers despite limited playing time. He starred with the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Red Sox, finishing second in the 1963 AL home run race (was the AL RBI leader in 1963). Infamous for his poor defense at first base, he earned the nickname “Dr. Strangeglove,” becoming one of baseball’s most colorful sluggers of the era.

Offered is this game used Louisville Slugger S2 circa 1964-72 game used bat (most likely dates from 1969 when he was with the Angels). Moderate usage with chalk marks still present. Measures 34.5” and weighs 31.75 ounces.

This bat derives from the collection of a former minor league baseball player with a direct connection to the California Angels.

His bats rarely come onto the market and quite rare!
