Tony Taylor (December 14, 1935 – February 16, 2020) was a Cuban-born Major League Baseball second baseman who played from 1958 to 1976, most notably with the Philadelphia Phillies. A steady contact hitter and durable infielder, Taylor was a key contributor to the 1964 Phillies pennant team. He also played for the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, and New York Mets, later enjoying a long career in Japan. Taylor finished with over 2,000 professional hits across MLB and NPB and was respected for consistency and leadership.
This Louisville Slugger shows light usage and based on the markings on the knob (the number 4 is embossed in a dot matrix into the knob of this S44 model. Presumably used by California Angels players during BP and possibly even in a game. Measures 33.75” and weighs 31.5 ounces.
This bat derives from the collection of a former minor league baseball player with a direct connection to the California Angels.
