Jim Hicks (1940-2020) played with the Chicago White Sox (1964–1966), St. Louis Cardinals (1969), and California Angels (1969–1970) before continuing his career in Japan with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp (1973–1974). He reached his peak in the high minors when he was named Pacific Coast League MVP in 1968, reflecting a standout offensive season and consistent all-around play. His career bridged MLB, Triple-A excellence, and the early era of American players starring in Nippon Professional Baseball.
