Daniel James Walton (July 14, 1947 – August 9, 2017) was an American Major League Baseball outfielder who played nine MLB seasons from 1968 to 1980. He appeared with the Astros, Pilots/Brewers, Yankees, Twins, Dodgers, and Rangers, and also played in Japan with the Yokohama Taiyo Whales. A 10th-round draft pick of Houston in 1965, Walton was named The Sporting News Minor League Player of the Year in 1969 after hitting .332 with 25 home runs and 119 RBI for Oklahoma City. Known for exceptional strength, he was regarded by teammates as one of the strongest players of his era.
Offered is a game used P80 Louisville Slugger that dates from either 1969 with the Seattle Pilots (one year) team or with the Milwaukee Braves (first year team). Measures 34.5” and weighs 33.83 ounces. His #12 is written on the top of the barrel (he wore #12 in Seattle and Milwaukee) in black marker. Some nice moderate usage.
This bat derives from the collection of a former minor league baseball player with a direct connection to the California Angels.
