Kyoko Chan Cox is the daughter of Yoko Ono and American filmmaker Anthony Cox. Born in 1963, Kyoko became the center of a long and painful custody battle after Ono and Cox divorced in the late 1960s. Initially, Yoko Ono was awarded custody, but in 1971, Anthony Cox, who had become involved with a religious cult known as the Church of the Living Word (or "The Walk"), disappeared with Kyoko to prevent Ono from having contact with her.For many years, Yoko Ono had no idea where her daughter was. Ono and John Lennon searched extensively but were unable to locate Kyoko. During this time, Cox changed their names and moved frequently to evade discovery.Kyoko eventually resurfaced as an adult in the late 1990s. She reconnected with Yoko Ono, but has chosen to live a largely private life since then. The story remains one of Yoko Ono's most personal and painful experiences.Offered is an original TYPE I photograph that measures 9" x 7" in size during one of the happier times in John and Yoko's lives. Stamped on back November 19, 1970 and has an original paper caption.Caption reads:BEATLE JOHN AT DANISH EXPERIMENTAL CENTREBeatle John Lennon and his Japanese wife Yoko Ono are now in Denmark studying peace. Originally they went to Denmark to find Yoko's daughter, Kyoko. John has looked for fulfilment in India, but appears to have found it in Denmark's North Jutland at a new experimental centre under the leadership of Aage Rosendahl Nielsen. It looks like a protracted stay for John and Yoko.PICTURE SHOWS:At the Press conference at the new experimental centre. From left are: Yoko Ono, John Lennon, gesturing to emphasise a point, Kyoko, and Yoko's former husband, Anthony Cox and his wife Belinda.
