Jerry Reuss authored the only no-hitter of his career on June 27, 1980, blanking the San Francisco Giants 8-0 at Candlestick Park. A first-inning throwing error by shortstop Bill Russell denied Reuss a perfect game, but he retired the final 25 batters he faced. The performance was the first no-hitter of the 1980 MLB season and remains one of the finest games of Reuss's outstanding All-Star campaign.
