A strong advocate of amateur basketball, Lynn St. John lobbied for formal national and international basketball rules for nearly three decades. A formidable administrator and a "master of diplomacy." St. John was appointed to the NCAA Basketball Rules Committee in 1912, a position he held for 25 years, the last eighteen as chairman. He served as a member of the 1936 Basketball Olympic Committee, and played an active role during the inaugural Olympic competition. The basketball arena at Ohio State University, where St. John coached (1912-1919) and later served as director of athletics (1915-47), is named in his honor. He died in 1950 and was elected to the Basketball HOF in 1962.Zora G. Clevenger(December 12, 1881 - November 24, 1970) was anAmerican football,basketball, andbaseballplayer, coach, and pioneeringathletic director. He served as the head football coach atNebraska Wesleyan University(1908-1910), theUniversity of Tennessee(1911-1915), andKansas State University(1916-1919), compiling a record of 47-32-7. Clevenger was also the head basketball coach atIndiana University(1904-1906), Nebraska Wesleyan (1907-1911), Tennessee (1911-1916), and Kansas State (1916-1919), and was baseball coach at Indiana (1905-1906), Nebraska Wesleyan (1908-1911), Tennessee (1911-1916), and Kansas State (1919-1921). Clevenger served as the athletic director at Kansas State (1916-1920), theUniversity of Missouri(1921-1923), and Indiana (1923-1946). He was inducted into theCollege Football Hall of Fameas a player in 1968.Offered is an 8.5" x 11" contract from 1942 between Ohio State and Indiana University for Ohio State to wrestle Indiana at Ohio State University on January 30, 1943.
