Mack "Soup" Supronowicz is a 1945 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. Mack was the first 10th grader to play varsity basketball at Mount Pleasant where he had an outstanding career. He also played baseball there as well.Mack attended the University of Michigan from 1947-1950 where he was a four year starter. He was the first freshman to make "All Big Nine" (MSU was not yet in league) and the first player to make "All Big Nine/Big Ten" for four years. Mack's team won the 1948 "Big Nine" Championship (first conference title for Michigan in 21 years). He played in the 1948 NCAA Tournament at Madison Square Garden (named to the first team all-star squad). He led the team in scoring all four years and was the first Wolverine to score 1,000 career points. He set the University of Michigan scoring records for a single game, single season, and career. He held many of the scoring records until the Cazzie Russell era. Mack was selected by the Mount Pleasant Athletic Club as Schenectady's outstanding athlete in 1949. He was named to the 1950 Polish American Basketball Team and is a member of the University of Michigan's Athletic Hall of Honor (inducted in 1990). He was drafted by the Syracuse Nats in 1950 and played pro basketball for Denver of the NBL from 1950-51.Offered is a signed personalized newspaper photo (7 x 4 inches) that reads "Best Regards Richard, Mack Suprunowicz."
