Max “Slats” Zaslofsky (D. 1985 at age 59) was one of professional basketball’s earliest stars. Joining the Chicago Stags in 1946, he became a four-time First Team All-BAA/NBA selection and led the league in scoring in 1947-48, averaging 21.0 points per game. He later played for the New York Knicks, helping them reach consecutive NBA Finals in 1951 and 1952, and was an NBA All-Star in 1952. When Zaslofsky retired in 1956, he ranked third in league history in career scoring.

Despite those accomplishments, Zaslofsky has never been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. He was nominated for the NBA’s 25th Anniversary Team and remains one of only two players nominated for that team who are not Naismith Hall of Famers. Remarkably, he remains under consideration decades after his death, appearing among the Hall’s Veteran nominees for the Class of 2026.

His rookie card appears in the first mainstream basketball card set, the 1948 Bowman set.

Offered is a very rare, signed and personalized GPC postmarked from 1980 in blue ballpoint pen!
