Pete Rozelle (D. 1996) served as NFL Commissioner from 1960 to 1989 and is widely credited with transforming the league into a national powerhouse. He negotiated lucrative TV contracts, helping launch "Monday Night Football" and securing revenue sharing among teams. Rozelle was instrumental in merging the NFL and AFL in 1970, creating the modern Super Bowl era. Under his leadership, the NFL's popularity soared, and he maintained league integrity through difficult times, including player strikes.
