Ryne Sandberg (1959–2025), 2B, Chicago Cubs / Philadelphia Phillies

Widely regarded as the finest second baseman of his era, Sandberg spent the bulk of his 16-year career with the Chicago Cubs. He won the 1984 NL MVP and made 10 consecutive All-Star appearances. A defensive wizard, he captured nine straight Gold Gloves and retired with a record .989 fielding percentage at second base. He also earned seven Silver Slugger Awards, hit 282 home runs, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005.
