Louis Prima was an American trumpeter, singer, entertainer, and bandleader famed for his exuberant swing and jazz performances. Born in New Orleans in 1910, he blended jazz, swing, jump blues, and Italian-influenced styles and became a Las Vegas lounge staple. His top hits include “Sing, Sing, Sing,” “Jump, Jive an’ Wail,” “Just a Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody,” “Buona Sera,” “When You’re Smiling,” and “I Wan’na Be Like You.”
