1951 Ray Dandridge The Best Third Basemen in Negro League History Original TYPE I Photo PSA/DNA LOA

Ray Dandridge is considered the greatest third basemen in Negro League history, renowned for his exceptional defense and ability to hit to all fields. He starred primarily with the Newark Eagles and also played professionally in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Cuba, where he spent several winters with Marianao. After joining the Minneapolis Millers in 1949 at age 35, Dandridge hit .362 and earned American Association Rookie of the Year honors. In 1950, he was named league MVP while leading Minneapolis to the championship. Despite his success, he never reached the major leagues. Dandridge was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987.

Of note, the Baseball HOF website starts of his bio by stating…” Ray Dandridge never had the chance to play in the American or National leagues. But the record shows he was clearly one of the greatest third basemen of all time.”

Offered is an original 7.25” x 9.25” photograph of of Ray Dandridge (far right), in uniform with the Marianao Tigers of the Cuban Professional League. The photo displays credit stamping from RFM/Habana on the verso next to date stamping attributing the image to October 21, 1951. There is a faint pencil notation that reads, “El delegado Pepe Rodríguez Ggaguirin… Dandridge”
