Jim Gilliam was a versatile infielder and outfielder who began his professional career in the Negro Leagues with the Baltimore Elite Giants before joining the Brooklyn Dodgers. The 1953 National League Rookie of the Year and a two-time All-Star, Gilliam spent his entire 14-year Major League career with the Dodgers. He helped the franchise win four World Series championships, in 1955, 1959, 1963 and 1965. The Dodgers retired his No. 19 in 1978.
Offered is an original 8” x 10” photo that was issued by the Brooklyn Dodgers for publicity purposes. This is the same image that was used for the production of his 1954 Topps #35 baseball card. The photo has a light signature that was signed by the clubhouse guy in response to a fan autograph request back in the 1950s.
Rare highly coveted image!
