The 1970 San Francisco 49ers enjoyed a breakthrough season under head coach Dick Nolan, finishing 10-3-1 and winning the franchise’s first division title. Quarterback John Brodie was named NFL MVP, leading an offense featuring Gene Washington and Ken Willard. San Francisco defeated the Minnesota Vikings 17-14 in the divisional playoffs before losing 17-10 to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game. The loss was also the 49ers’ final game at Kezar Stadium. Rookie cornerback Bruce Taylor was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
