Elston Howard Signed AUTO Sport Magazine Photo 1950s NY Yankees Star D.1980

Elston Howard (D. 1980 at age 51), New York Yankees catcher and outfielder, broke the Yankees' color barrier in 1955 as the franchise's first Black player. A 12-time All-Star, he won the 1963 American League MVP Award, the first Black player to earn that honor in the AL. A two-time Gold Glove winner, Howard played in ten World Series and batted .274 over a 14-year career.

Offered is a 7.5” x 9” Sport Magazine photo picturing, Howard with a big smile on his face.   Mounted to a backing board, giving this the feel of an actual photograph.  Signed in blue ink during his playing days in the 1950s (from an in-person collection).
