Nile Kinnick (D. 1943 at the age of 24) won the 1939 Heisman Trophy and was a consensus All-American. He died during a training flight while serving as a U.S Navy airplane pilot in World War II. Kinnick was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951, and the University of Iowa renamed its football stadium "Kinnick Stadium" in his honor in 1972.Due to his early death, Kinnick's autograph is very seldom offered. His signature is just about on top of every Heisman Trophy autographs collector's want list.Usually when his autograph does come up for sale, it is usually found on a program, banquet program, or on the rare occasion; a signed postcard sized photo that must have been issued by the school (in his letterman's jacket).Offered is the only 8x10 photograph that we have ever seen of Kinnick that has been autograph (in steel tipped pen) showing this immortal gridiron great with his College Football Hall of Fame backfield coach, Frank Carideo.Of course the photo itself would be considered a TYPE 1 photo. This piece had been buried in a collection for over a decade and before that had been hidden in a scrapbook in Iowa. One of a kind and worthy of the finest collections!!Enapsulated AUTHENTIC as well as a Full PSA/DNA LOA
