On November 7, 1975, just hours after a blockbuster trade from the Boston Bruins, Phil Esposito made his New York Rangers debut against the California Golden Seals in Oakland. Despite his two goals and an assist, the Rangers lost 7-5 to the Seals, who were led by a four-goal performance from Gary Sabourin.

The Trade: The Rangers acquired Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais from the Boston Bruins for Brad Park, Jean Ratelle, and Joe Zanussi.

The Game (Nov 7, 1975): Played in Oakland, the California Golden Seals defeated the New York Rangers 7-5.

Esposito's Performance: Esposito scored two goals (his 7th and 8th of the season) and recorded an assist.

Rangers' Context: It was a high-scoring but shaky debut for Esposito, who was on the ice for five of California's goals.

Team Impact: The loss highlighted the immediate defensive struggles, though Esposito quickly became a focal point of the Rangers' offense.
