Sam Giancana (1908-1975) was a notorious Chicago Outfit mob boss who rose from street gang member to control organized crime operations across Chicago and beyond. Born Salvatore Giangana, he earned the nickname "Momo" and became boss in 1957. Giancana was involved in illegal gambling, loan sharking, and racketeering. He had alleged connections to the CIA's plots to assassinate Fidel Castro and rumored ties to the Kennedy family. His girlfriend, singer Phyllis McGuire of the McGuire Sisters, brought him into Hollywood circles. He was murdered in 1975 at his Chicago home, shot multiple times while cooking sausages, in a case that remains officially unsolved.
